The Cemetery
Upper Bucklebury

The cemetery is run by the Parish Council for the burials and cremations of people of all faiths or no faith.
The cemetery chapel can also be used for services of any faith or no faith. It holds about 35-40 people.

Wildlife
Old Cemeteries and graveyards are now important habitats for wild life. Because no fertilizer or pesticide is used on the grassy areas, the wild flowers can flourish. For this reason we have a management plan agreed with the gardeners and they leave the moon daises ,meadow saxifrage, bluebells to flower and seed before cutting them down about the end of June. Later the heather will be allowed to flower.

Malcolm Storey is recording the fungi and invertebrates in the cemetery. Roger Frankum is carrying out a butterfly survey and recording the plants. He hopes to record the mosses and lichens in the future.

The aim is to preserve this important local habitat and not only maintain the grounds so they give pleasure to the many people who come here, but also provide a fitting resting place for the people of this parish
