Repair Cafe
What is a Repair Café?
https://www.repaircafe.org/en/
Repair Cafés are free meeting places and they’re all about repairing things (together). In the place where a Repair Café is located, you’ll find tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need. On clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, appliances, toys, et cetera. You’ll also find expert volunteers, with repair skills in all kinds of fields.
Visitors bring their broken items from home. Together with the specialists they start making their repairs in the Repair Café. It’s an ongoing learning process. If you have nothing to repair, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.
There are over 3,275 Repair Cafés worldwide (locations)
Newbury & Thatcham Repair Cafe
The Repair Cafe runs events about once a month, usually on the last Sunday of the month except December, alternating between Newbury and Thatcham.
- Frank Hutchings Community Hall, Thatcham, RG18 4QH – 10a.m. to 12.30p.m.
- Newbury Methodist Church Hall, RG14 1AN – 2p.m. to 4.30p.m.
- Dates on website & facebook pages listed below
- Please note events are Sunday afternoon in Newbury, and Sunday morning in Thatcham.
- Please register your item at Check-in at least 30 minutes before we close to give time for the repair (if feasible) to take place.
We repair electrical items, electronic gadgets, clothing, textiles, soft toys, ceramics, and other household objects. Our skilled volunteers will do their best to repair your items, reducing waste and saving you money. Repairs are free, but your donations are much appreciated and help to fund our future events. Have a tea or coffee while you wait for a repairer to become available.
Additional services being offered are tool sharpening (a limit of 1 large or 2 small items, please) and advice on mobile phones and IT issues. Even if your item can’t be repaired at the event, you may be advised on a part to buy, or a way to repair it yourself at home, or a local business suggested who may be able to help you further.
The first 8 events rescued an estimated 1000 kg of waste from landfill and waste processing!
If you’re new to the Repair Café, here’s some fine print…
*One item per person. Please ensure that it is clean and small/light enough to carry.
*You may be able to rejoin the queue with another item if time allows.
*For electrical and electronic items, please bring the batteries, chargers, ancillary leads, power supplies, speakers, etc. to enable us to fully test the faulty item.
*Sorry, microwaves, petrol-driven items, or gas appliances cannot be repaired for safety reasons.
If you have an ‘unusual item’ to be repaired and you are unsure if the item can be repaired at a Repair Café, please get in touch by email or Facebook.

Hungerford Repair Cafe
Hungerford Repair Café is a free community event where we repair damaged or faulty household items.
Here you'll find volunteers, tools and materials to help you make repairs on clothes, furniture, electrical and electronic goods, garden tools and toys. Our volunteers will turn their hands to many things, including items of sentimental value.
Hungerford Repair Café is currently run every 2 months, usually on the third Saturday of the month from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm in the Croft Hall in Hungerford. The Croft Hall is located at the end of Croft Road near the community health centre and St Lawrence's church. Parking is limited, so if you wish to bring a large item, please drop this off at the hall and find parking at the nearby Church Street car park.
